SMAR3TS Secondments & Alignment with Innovate3X
What are Igniting Impactful Initiatives
(also known as Innovate3X / I3X)
Innovate3X Guiding Principles:

I3X should aim to accelerate the understanding/scoping of a challenge (technological, market, societal etc), and the emergence/development of possible solutions. This can be interpreted as e.g. increased technological or societal readiness, once the I3X is completed.

I3X should have a sufficient scale and scope (i.e. not being too narrowly-defined) and should require multi/cross/inter/transdisciplinary capabilities.

I3X should align to the core concepts of SMAR3TS – Resilience, Restoration, Regeneration (either R or all Rs).

I3X should align to (at least) one WP (Nutrition, Energy, Mobility, Housing) – WPs are the main coordination mechanism of the project, hence I3X should be connected to WPs.

Any partner can initiate an I3X. Yet, shaping the I3X should be done collectively, and in collaboration with the appropriate WP leader/s and SMAR3TS Management Team.​

What do secondments have to do with Innovate3X?
Secondments across the SMAR3TS Consortium are the key guiding instruments for guiding and empowering the ~24 Innovate3X, with other contributions through SMAR3TS events and other online activities (e.g. hackathons, workshops, showcase).
Overall, it is expected that each I3X will lead and enable approximately 10 person-months of secondments, from within, and across the Consortium (i.e. between the initiator of the I3X and partner contributors / between partner contributors).

SMAR3TS Secondments are open only to SMAR3TS Consortium Partners.

Secondments aligned to any I3X can be undertaken at either the Initiating Parter premises and/or other SMAR3TS Consortium Partner premises.

Regardless of where you are undertaking work on an I3X, you are obligated to ensure the aligned I3X Initiator Project Contact, Lead / Responsible aligned Work Package Leader, as well as the SMAR3TS Project Management Team are kept fully up-to-date with the progress of your contribution to your secondment aligned I3X - Refer to the detailed information 'About Secondments - What are Secondments'.
